Catalog Description:  Teaching and Learning in Medicine is designed for advanced Clinical Immersion and Transitions phase medical students to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and learning strategies, explore the ways these strategies can effectively be implemented in clinical learning contexts and begin to develop their own teaching identity alongside their physician identity.

This course is a four week, four credit course where students will delve into evidence-based literature, poetry, podcasts, and videos to explore and develop their role as a clinician-teacher.  Students will participate in discussions, critical reflection, interviews of practicing teachers and will develop a written teaching philosophy that can be a foundation for their teaching as they transition into residency.

Note: This course has an enrollment minimum of 4 students. The course director will be in touch after the add/drop deadline each period to let students know if the enrollment minimum was not met.
